About Us

Oncuoglu is an international architectural practice composed of a dynamic and experienced team of architects, designers, planners and engineers that provides a full scope of project services from master planning, and concept design to working documentation in wide geography including Turkey, Russia, Uzbekistan, Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The company, which was founded by Hasan Oncuoglu in 1964, is directed by Enis Oncuoglu with his partner Engin Oncuoglu since 1996. The company has 59 years of experience in architectural design and planning with specialists, based in Ankara.

In the past decades, Oncuoglu’s specialized mainly in the design of mixed-use, retail, office, residential, tourism and hospitality projects which many of them received international awards including Best Retail Destination of the Year and Mall of the Year with Kentpark Shopping Center at Retail City, Best Mixed-use Center with Mersin Marina at ArkiParc 2012, Best Mixed-use Project with Metropolis Office&Retail Center at CRE 2009, Best Retail Project with Cepa Shopping Center at Cityscape 2009, Best Hotel with The Ritz Carlton Moscow Hotel at CRE 2007, Best Shopping Center in St. Petersburg with Udelny Park and Regions June at CRE 2006 and 2007.

Most significant characteristic of Oncuoglu is the ability to combine contemporary architecture with a realistic and applicable approach within the context of the project by taking into consideration the client’s requests and the feasibility of the project.

After several numbers of realized projects, significant experience has been gained in the requirements, services and organization of large-scale and international projects.

Founder
Hasan Öncüoğlu
1930 - 1996

He was born in 1930 in Tire, Izmir. He graduated from Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture as an architect-engineer in 1962. During 1963-1964, he worked as a site architect at the construction of Buyuk Ankara Hotel. He was the founder and partner of Kent Architecture Ltd. Co. from 1964 till 1966. In the same year, he established Oncuoglu Architecture Ltd. Co. as the founder and manager. He designed hundreds of projects in Turkey and abroad. He was mainly specialized in the design of hospitals, educational buildings, hotels and administrative buildings. During his professional career, he gained seven 1st prizes, two 2nd prizes, one 3rd prize and a total of 28 prizes in the national architectural competitions. He passed away on 22 November 1996, because of a sudden heart attack. He was married, has two sons and three grandchildren.

Enis Öncüoğlu

Chairman of the Board, Architect

Enis Oncuoglu graduated from METU Faculty of Architecture as an architect in 1989 and right after started to work at Oncuoglu Architects founded by Hasan Oncuoglu. In 1996 he assumed the general directorate of the company in 1996 after the founder of the office passed away. Enis Oncuoglu also acts as a jury member in many national and international competitions and participates in conferences such as MAPIC, MIPIM, ProEstate, ARKIPARC to share his experience in architecture and real estate issues. Enis Oncuoglu is also a member of the Board of TMMOB Chamber of Architects, TSMD (Association of Turkish Architects in Private Practice), OMIM (Union of Architects of Architectural Faculty of METU), AMPD (Shopping Centres and Retailers Association), TMMMB (Turkish Consulting Engineers and Architects Association) and ISCS (International Council of Shopping Centres). Oncuoglu is also one of the founders of TSMD Ankara Architecture Centre.

Engin Öncüoğlu

Board Member, BA in Interior Design, MA in History

He graduated from Bilkent University, Faculty of Fine Arts as an interior designer in 1995. He worked as a designer, project assistant and site coordinator in various firms. In 1996, he started working at Öncüoğlu Architecture. Since 1996, he has been working as the head of interior design department and deputy general manager at the firm. His main specialization files have been the interior design of retail, healthcare, residential and office projects. In the past ten years, he has designed and coordinated various interior design projects of the firm.
